THE SUN AND THE SON….

The Sun spoke to me today..

He asked me to wake up

And look at the World

With my Eyes wide open.

I saw the World

Full of Love, at peace

I wondered out loud –

“How can this be?

Aren’t we all selfish beings -?

Not bothered about anyone but ‘Me’?”

The Sun smiled at my query,

Looked at me like a father who knows his child is mistaken.

He said-

“Why always see

The shallow things and

Not explore the matter deep within.

You and all my children

Have the Deep Well of Empathy:

Why not employ it and bring out the best in each.

Now I see the world again,

It’s noisy and busy

But it is satisfying and serene

The spirit of kindness can be sited deep within.

TAKE A MOMENT...

Why so busy to live,
Why so tired to enjoy.
Why so mindful of the conventions.
Why so worried about the upcoming,
Why so hooked up at the past.
Why not to live in here and now.
So lets go out-
See the sun setting,
The moon rising.

Lets feel the cool breeze on our face.
Lets take a moment to stop
And look at the lovely flower,
Or smell the freshly mown grass.
Or enjoy the fragrance of Earth after the first rain.

Lets take a moment to see
the kids playing, a mother fussing,
babies laughing
friends smiling,
birds singing, animals dancing,
Flowers blossoming.

Lets take a moment to admire the life around us;
And consider ourselves fortunate to be a part of this beautiful magical world…

FOR MY DEAREST BUI !!

“For my Dearest Bui.."

You hear my unsaid words,
And you see through my pretences;
You bring me out of my shell
and ask me to let it all out-
so that I can be me.

You never force, you never forbid,
but always guide me through the right way-
standing constantly
by my side.
Your love is strengthening,
Your smile is encouraging.
Your hugs are warm
And your presence Divine.

I thank Lord Almighty
for you,
because;
You understand me
And you let me be me…

The Feeling of You...

“The Feeling of You...” – Pooja A Shrivastava -
I feel you around me, near me.
I remember your touch on my skin
It still makes me miss a beat.
I remember your smell around me,
It still makes me breathless.
So tell me -
Are you here? Or
Far away?
I cant get my mind straight
I feel your eyes on me,
I feel your whispers in my ears,
I feel you around me.
So tell me-
Are you here? Or
Far away?
I remember you saying good bye,
I remember the tears in our eyes,
I remember- the uncertainty,
the flaws in the future we both could see;
still we became blind and fell heads over heels
So tell me-
Are you here? Or
Far away?
I see you standing on the beach
Looking at me as you still love me,
I see me running towards you,
Hoping that I could never lose you.
But then you drift and
Go away.

And I know,
Now I could never see you again.

So I know you are not here,
You are far away..
Far away..

Far away...

Reflection in the Mirror.

I look in the mirror I see no self. All I see- is a man.
But I don’t know that man-
“Who is he?
Where did he come from?
I don’t know that man-
He stares at me from behind the glass?
He has horrified, puzzled eyes
Sweaty palms and a shivering torso.
He looks scared and tired,
He wants to be taken care of.
He wants to be loved.”
“Do I know that man?
He feels lost and confused,
This is not how I imagined to be.
I wished for him to be happy, merry and cherished.
But all I see,
Is the reflection of a lonely and a sad being.”
I recognize the man in the glass
It’s me in the real world.
I recall now what happened to me-
I forgot what I truly needed in the race to fulfill my desires.
I got caught up in the rat race that I easily lost the things that truly mattered.
I chose the short routs to success and they have now back fired.
I have lost all my sophisticated valuables
And I am left with the only things that truly matter-
My virtue, my dream and my faith.
I have lost some but I have gained even more,
I have learnt my lessons,
And I am ready to begin new.
I recognize the face in the mirror,
It has sparkly eyes, full of new dreams
I recognize the man in the mirror,I see myself,
I see me.
I see the man, who knows what he needs,
What makes him truly happy!
So I dream big, I work hard to achieve it
I look the reflection in the eye and proudly say,
“Yes, that’s me.”

A Walk by the Sea Shore - Pooja A Shrivastava ( 24th Aug, 2009)

I am walking alone on the beach and
I pause for a moment to see.
I close my eyes and stand still
breathing deeply; taking in.

I am trying to understand-
“What is it about the sea that draws me in?
Is it the salty wind?
Or is it the warm breeze?
Is it the thundering sound of the waves?
Or is it the tickling feeling in my feet which occurs because of waves?
Is it the appearance of stillness at the surface?
Or is it the life within?
Is the sea a metaphor of humane life?
Or is it one more DIVINE simile ?”

I open my eyes,
I feel relieved,
I look at my feet they are sparkly.
I look at the setting sun, its smiling.

And now I know-
“It’s the spirit of hard wok with a pleasant smile on the face,
It’s the wish to be happy even in the averse conditions,
It’s the desire to accomplish the task given by HIM,
It’s the yearning for balance and creating equality.
It’s the depth of the sea- to be and be, the way it is- Big, deep and serene.
Big, deep and serene.”

I dedicate this poem to my Lord..
